NO. If your teeth have fillings, crowns, or veneers and the color of your teeth matches the color of your dental work before whitening, the color of your teeth will most likely be different from the color of your dental work after whitening. You are ultimately making a commitment to replacing those restorations if you whiten your teeth. Typically it is best to wait a few weeks after whitening treatments to replace these restorations since we want to match the new color after your bleaching color stabilizes before choosing a color for the new restorations.
You must also have healthy gums and any decay must be treated since both of these can be a cause of sensitivity during whitening treatments. Because of this, you will need a professional cleaning and examination before being considered for whitening treatments.
Teeth whitening is not recommended for children whose teeth are still developing or for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Teeth whitening requires an impression of your mouth so that a tray, which holds the whitening gel against your teeth, can be custom made for you. The gel is typically worn for an hour a day for one to two weeks. Our Laser Whitening treatment includes a set of custom made take-home trays. You can also purchase these trays without Laser Whitening treatments for $99 after a professional cleaning and examination. We offer ZOOM teeth Whitening in Battle Ground and take-home teeth whitening in Longview.
Meet our 61-year-old patient before and after in-house ZOOM whitening. (These are actual, unaltered photos)
The first photo was taken immediately before treatment, and the second photo was taken the morning after. She did not use any additional whitening products after leaving our office. She reported little to no sensitivity, and was very happy with her results!
She received custom take-home whitening trays and will continue to bleach for one week. She will use her custom trays for touch-ups to maintain her beautiful smile.
*NOTE: Our patient had tried several different ways to whiten her smile over the years and felt almost hopeless to ever achieving a bright smile, until now!
Teeth whitening is not permanent, and the results vary from patient to patient. Your eating, drinking, smoking and home care habits have an effect on how long the treatment lasts. Teeth tend to become darker as time passes, so touch-up treatments are usually needed to keep the teeth light. Because of this, our in-house Laser Whitening includes custom take-home trays for touch-ups. Remember that the base shade of teeth is yellow or white and we cannot whiten this base color. However, most patients are very satisfied with the results of whitening treatments.
Is everyone a candidate for whitening?
What are the side effects?
How long will whitening last?
Some patients report a temporary increase in sensitivity. Tender gums are also a known side effect especially if you are whitening at home and use too much of the whitening solution. Remember that a little is good, and a lot will not make your teeth any whiter.
In-house laser whitening causes less sensitivity than other whitening methods because we place a rubber seal around your teeth to protect your gums. Then, the whitening gel is painted onto your teeth, and a special, bright laser light is pointed at them. This light speeds up the whitening process, and the procedure takes 30 minutes
